Buzzing Swedish Alt-Jazz Virtuoso Ebba Åsman Releases Sultry New Single “Did I Go?”

Centered around feelings of detachment and self-doubt

Swedish alt-jazz virtuoso Ebba Åsman has released her new single “Did I Go?” – the latest track off of her forthcoming album When You Know, arriving March 21st, 2025 via Dorado Records.

Following on the heels of her double single “When You Know” and “No Answer” last month, “Did I Go?” captures the melancholy undertones that resonate throughout the record. A blanket of smooth trombone, trickling synths, and lyricism centered around feelings of detachment and self-doubt echo throughout, as she sings “second guessing thoughts at night that were my own // Taking detours back forgetting that I’ve grown // Wish I could see how it turns out 5 years from now // where did I go?”.

”I wanted the song to be vibrant and melancholic,” adds Ebba. “Being In your own thoughts but at the same time wanting help how to navigate. No one can say where the road goes, we can just try to follow the ride.”

Retreating to a cabin outside of her small hometown of Hammarö, 200 miles west of Stockholm, Ebba recorded When You Know in the dead of winter last year. With the temperatures outside nearing minus-thirty degrees, the 26-year-old artist logged off for a month – no TV; social media and email deleted – embracing both the deep sense of calm and the challenges that come with the cold, stillness and solitude of the wilderness.

Coming off of a Swedish Grammy nomination for her sophomore album in 2024, the trombonist, songwriter and producer sought to quiet the noise around her and challenge the jazz genre’s rigid confines for her next project. What manifested was When You Know; a smoky 10-track cocktail of alternative jazz, R&B, electronic and ambient sonics that experiments at every turn and features Åsman’s own vocals for the first time.
