One of London’s most exciting new groups, IMISSMYMOM, has shared their new single “Lust“, coming from their forthcoming second album. Written while reflecting on the complexities of objectification in relationships, “Lust” questions what it means to be desired. The track captures the painful duality of longing to be loved while slowly morphing into an object of desire.
It’s raw, unsettling, and deeply human, embodying IMISSMYMOM’s instinctive approach to songwriting and storytelling. With “Lust”, IMISSMYMOM continue to carve their space as one of the UK’s most uncompromising new acts, unpolished, unfiltered, and impossible to ignore.
Born out of a spontaneous warehouse jam in Hackney Wick, they are a band that thrives on improvisation, raw emotion, and unfiltered honesty. Their music wasn’t meticulously planned, it just happened. In their very first session, the group recorded a four-hour, non-stop improvisation that would later form a third of their debut album.
Within just three days, they had freestyled over 20 tracks, carving out moments into songs but leaving the original takes intact. This immediacy and refusal to polish away the rough edges is at the heart of IMISSMYMOM.
Their name came just as instinctively, during an early session, Tennessee belted out the phrase “I miss my mom”, primal, unfiltered, honest. Moreover, beyond the music, the band self-produce all their artwork, videos, and visuals, channeling their collective creativity into every facet of their identity. As a band, the lineup brings together a rare mix of experience and instinct, Kyle (drums) and Cameron (bass) are also integral members of Sam Akpro’s band, and credited as recording artists on his latest record ‘Evenfall’. Tommy Wallwork, a highly respected producer who has worked with Joy Orbison among others, provides the band’s sonic backbone. Meanwhile, Marley (guitar), who has enjoyed a successful solo career, and Tennessee (vocals) complete the circle, with Tennessee’s improvised vocals during those first sessions unexpectedly cementing her as the group’s frontwoman.
