Brooklyn Rockers Local Weatherman Share Swaggering New Single “Thread”

Brooklyn rock band Local Weatherman are sharing their new single “Thread“, the first preview off their upcoming EP, Right One, available January 16, 2026, via rising tape label, Karol Records.

“Thread” follows a search for identity through unraveling threads of anxiety, ample riffage, and heavy hooks. Quotable as ever, today’s release expands upon the band’s emerging discography with dizzingly cyclical guitars and powerful vocal delivery.

“‘Thread’ is about having no release valve when your mind is racing,” bandleader Fritz Ortman explains. “It’s the heaviest song we’ve made, but I think the bridge is one of the prettiest moments on the EP. This song also reckons with the rockstar dreams I had growing up (and maybe still have), and each verse ends with a nod to a song I loved as a kid.”

Last year, the band returned with “The Hole,” which chronicles the fall into a pit of hopelessness and the descent into a directionless time of life, but sounds as anthemic and upbeat as ever, with frenetic drums and turbulent riffs.

Local Weatherman shared their eponymous debut album in 2023, which features fan favorite tracks “Bad” and “Guns.” Extremely catchy, emo-tinged songs emerged from the record, cementing the band as a local favorite in Brooklyn’s ever-evolving rock scene and DIY scenes across the East Coast.
