Michael Sanders, a songwriter, composer, and recording artist based in Austin, Texas, is set to release his second full length album, preceded by the track “the wild.”
“the wild” is a hooky, melodic delight that melds dreamy pop yearning and psych-friendly bursts.
fuzzer presents a bold sonic vision where explosions of fuzzy guitar are complemented by a steady trickle of melodic earworms and vocal harmony. Casting a wide net of influences, Sanders has curated a stylized sound where heavy power pop choruses and syncopated drum breakbeats operate on equal footing.
With 10 songs coming in just under 30 minutes, the record is an exercise in efficiency- careful not to overstay its welcome. Wistful and nostalgic lyrics remain a constant as Sanders cycles through different sonic textures. Tracks like “impression”, “only want u”, and “bb plz” offer a fresh take on 60s tinged indie rock. While tracks like “the wild” and “the best” feel more unapologetically pop despite containing a certain retro edge.
“In creating this record, I set out to make something that would translate well live. I tried to use more restraint than I have in the past. This is my Austin album. Through these songs, I am sonically reflecting back the parts of Austin and its music scene that I see in myself,” Sanders says.
