Emotion-fueled rock collective Culture Wars return with their new single “Bittersweet,” an arena-ready, shout-from-the-rooftops anthem that showcases frontman Alex Dugan’s dynamic vocal range and the band’s ability to blend soaring hooks with raw angst. The track arrives on the heels of a huge year for the five-piece, which includes sharing stages with iconic acts like Keane, Wallows, and LANY, breaking into the Top 20 at U.S. Alternative Radio with their track “It Hurts,” and surpassing 8 million global streams on their breakout single “Typical Ways.”
Dugan describes “Bittersweet” as a reflection on learning to accept life’s unpredictable balance. “I feel myself slowly becoming more and more adult,” he shares. “The concept of ‘Bittersweet’ is centered around getting what you want out of life but never on the terms you thought. Most things in my life have been ‘yes but…’ – but that’s life. Bittersweet. In the same vein as the old Stones adage, ‘you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need.’ This is my version of that. Making the best of life, rolling with the punches, and seeing obstacles as the way it was meant to happen. The brain creates a lot of anxiety… most of which is insanity – and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.”
With their electrifying mix of alt-rock energy, modern polish, and widescreen emotion, Culture Wars continue to establish themselves as one of the most compelling live bands in modern rock. Their debut album, if not now, when?, arrives in early 2026, marking the next chapter in a career defined by growth, grit, and unshakable momentum.
