Emerging Bronx-born songwriter Ezra introduces a bold creative vision with his emotionally-charged, piano-driven new single “Intermission,” which marks the beginning of his next chapter. Out now via TAG Music, the label founded by Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta, the track leads into Ezra’s forthcoming debut album, set for early 2026.
Marrying late-‘90s/early-2000s soundscapes with modern-day alt-pop songwriting, Ezra’s music fuses punchy melodies and emotional urgency with raw, unfiltered storytelling. “Intermission” leans into this sonic blend – an angsty, piano-pop anthem that swells with heartbreak, frustration, and longing.
“‘Intermission’ was written about the one person that, no matter how long it’s been, will always be who you compare every new relationship to,” Ezra shares. “My FIRST EVER girlfriend that I haven’t seen since high school visited LA this past February and it reminded me how everyone else I meet could never fill the void she left. It got me wishing that the time we’re spending apart now is just an intermission for what I’m yearning for – a happy ending for us.”
The single also launches a companion mockumentary, directed by actor/filmmaker David Mazouz (Gotham), which will be released in episodic segments with each new single leading up to the album – the first clip can be viewed here. The project is both satire and self-exploration, skewering the mythology of rising artists while revealing intimate glimpses of Ezra’s creative world. Cameos include Gabe Saporta, content creator Morgan Cohen, and Mazouz himself. Each mockumentary episode will unveil new letters from the album and film’s shared title, keeping fans guessing and piecing the mystery together ahead of its full reveal in 2026.
Having toured with artists like Carlie Hanson and Braden Bales, Ezra has built a reputation for emotionally resonant live shows and a sound that threads nostalgia through a Gen-Z lens. With “Intermission” and a debut album on the horizon, Ezra is defining a new lane for alternative pop – cinematic, cathartic, and unmistakably his own.
