Father Mother Sister Brother, the new film by Jim Jarmusch that again features a role by Tom Waits, is set to premiere on December 24, 2025. Ahead of the film’s release, Jarmusch is set to release the film’s score, which he composed with British musician Anika. That release date is set for November 14, 2025, via the Sacred Bones label.
Jim and Anika met at the Sacred Bones 15th anniversary celebration in 2022, where she and his band SQÜRL were both playing. They first worked together on a cover of Nico’s “These Days” which is used in the film, and there’s also a cover of Classics IV’s “Spooky” which is used in the opening credits. Most of the score, though, is on the atmospheric side.
The film itself stars Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Indya Moore and Luka Sabbat and here’s the synopsis: “A feature film in the form of a triptych. The three stories all concern the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents), and each other.”
