The Code Geass franchise is expanding with a brand-new manga titled Code Geass: Pure Almaria, which launched on Kadokawa’s Kadocomi website last Friday. This new addition aims to bridge the gap between the stories of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection and Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture.
The story takes place after a major event where the Kingdom of Zilkhstan kidnaps Zero and Nunnally. Fans of the series can expect this manga to dive deeper into the timeline and explore what happened during this critical period.
The manga is in capable hands, with Atsushi Soga (Code Geass: Shiro no Kishi Kurenai no Yasha) as the illustrator and Fumiya Nagatsuki penning the story. Sunrise producer Kōjirō Taniguchi oversees the series composition, with Sunrise handling planning. Bandai Spirits and Hobby Japan are also involved in the project, ensuring the manga aligns with the franchise’s high standards.
The Code Geass franchise started in 2006 with the original anime series, followed by a sequel in 2008. Over the years, it has expanded into various forms, including manga, original video animations, and movies. Notable spin-offs include the five-part Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, released between 2012 and 2016, and a compilation film trilogy launched between 2017 and 2018.
In 2019, the movie Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection marked the beginning of a 10-year plan for the franchise, as revealed by producer Kōjirō Taniguchi. The most recent addition, Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture, premiered as a four-part theatrical release in Japan in 2024 and was later streamed as 12 episodes on Disney+.
