The official trailer for The Life of Chuck, the latest film from director Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game), has been released, offering a poignant glimpse into the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King‘s novella. The film stars Tom Hiddleston as Charles “Chuck” Krantz, tracing his life in reverse chronological order—from his death back to his childhood.

The trailer highlights how the narrative unfolds through various stages of Chuck’s life, with younger versions portrayed by actors including Jacob Tremblay, Cody Flanagan, and Benjamin Pajak.

The Life of Chuck boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthew Lillard, and Kate Siegel. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, where it won the People’s Choice Award.

Mike Flanagan has been making his name as a go to director of Stephen King adaptations, as this marks his third, while he’s also adapting The Dark Tower for a new TV series.

Stephen King’s The Life of Chuck was originally a short story released in 2020’s If It Bleeds, a collection of four previously unpublished novellas.

The film is set for a limited theatrical release on June 6, 2025, expanding nationwide on June 13.
