Watch the New Trailer for Apple TV+’s New Fargo-Esque Series ‘Government Cheese’

Apple TV+ has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming surrealist family comedy series, Government Cheese, set to premiere globally on April 16, 2025. The 10-episode series stars David Oyelowo, who also serves as an executive producer, alongside Simone Missick, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, and Evan Ellison.

Government Cheese is set in the San Fernando Valley in 1969, portraying the Chambers family, a quirky group pursuing lofty and seemingly impossible dreams, unfettered by the realities of the world. The narrative unfolds as Hampton Chambers (Oyelowo) is released from prison and returns to a family dynamic that has evolved in his absence. His wife, Astoria (Missick), and sons, Einstein (Ellison) and Harrison (Di’Allo Winston), have formed an unconventional family unit, and Hampton’s return introduces chaos into their established lives.

The series is created by Paul Hunter and Aeysha Carr, who serve as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners. Hunter also takes on the role of director, bringing his unique vision to the project. The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Bokeem Woodbine, Jeremy Bobb, Louis Cancelmi, Julien Heron, Djilali Rez-Kallah, Louis Ferreira, Thomas Beaudoin, Kyle Mac, John Ortiz, and Adam Beach.

Government Cheese will debut with the first four episodes on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through May 28, 2025. The series will be available exclusively on Apple TV+, accessible through the Apple TV app in over 100 countries and regions.
