Steven Spielberg’s classic thriller/horror Jaws will see its 4K Ultra HD release on June 17, 2025, as a celebration of its 50th Anniversary. There is a previous 4K version of the film, but this one will include the never-before-seen documentary Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story. It is coming from National Geographic and is directed by Laurent Bouzereau. This authorized look includes interviews with shark scientists and some of “Hollywood’s most influential directors,” according to a press release.
In addition to the regular 4K Ultra HD release, it’s also coming in a limited edition steelbook, featuring iconic artwork. This edition comes with a 4K, Blu-ray, and digital copy of the film alongside a selection of bonus features.
In addition to deleted scenes and outtakes, bonus features include a full-length making-of documentary, a featurette on the film’s restoration, and The Shark Is Still Working: The Impact and Legacy of Jaws, a fan-made documentary exploring the film’s pop culture impact and legacy.
Jaws set the standard for edge-of-your-seat suspense, quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon and forever changing the movie industry. When the seaside community of Amity finds itself under attack by a dangerous great white shark, the town’s chief of police (Roy Scheider), a young marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss) and a grizzled shark hunter (Robert Shaw) embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast before it strikes again.
As a reminder, the movie set a box office record during its opening weekend in June 1975 and became the highest-grossing film of all time until Star Wars was released two years later.
