Sam Mendes Has Unveiled the Cast Taking the Lead in His Upcoming Beatles Biopic

Director Sam Mendes has unveiled the principal cast for his ambitious Beatles biopic series, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, during Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas. The films will feature Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

This groundbreaking project comprises four separate films, each focusing on the perspective of one Beatles member. Mendes emphasized that a single film wouldn’t suffice to explore the Beatles’ legacy, leading to the decision to create interconnected narratives designed to be viewed in a specific sequence. The films are slated for a simultaneous release in April 2028.

Notably, this marks the first time Apple Corps has granted rights for the Beatles’ life stories and music to be used in a large-scale film project, with endorsements from surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as the families of John Lennon and George Harrison.

The casting choices have sparked discussions among fans and critics, particularly regarding the actors’ non-Liverpool origins. Despite this, the selected actors bring a wealth of talent and acclaim to their respective roles.

As anticipation builds, audiences eagerly await further details about this unprecedented cinematic exploration of the Beatles’ enduring legacy.
