Rom-Com Meets Dark Comedy in the First Look at New Movie ‘Oh, Hi!’

Sony Pictures Classics has unveiled the official trailer for Oh, Hi!, featuring Logan Lerman and Molly Gordon and set for theatrical release on July 25, 2025.

Premise & Plot Twist

What seems like a dreamy first getaway—romantic seaside dinners and swimming under fairy lights—takes a sharp turn into psychological rom-com territory when Iris (Gordon) and commitment-phobe Isaac (Lerman) enter a heated “situationship.” When Iris refers to them as a couple, Isaac recoils and chaos ensues—leading to the unforgettable scene of Isaac handcuffed to a bed as Iris confronts him.

Directed and written by Sophie Brooks, the film premiered at Sundance 2025, where critics praised its originality and tonal balancing between romantic comedy and dark humor. The trailer captures this duality—heartfelt moments entwined with genre-defying surprises.

Cast & Production

Molly Gordon (also co-writer) shines as Iris, bringing both comedic timing and candid emotional depth. Logan Lerman portrays Isaac, whose retreat at the moment of emotional honesty sparks the film’s central conflict. Supporting cast includes Geraldine Viswanathan, John Reynolds, David Cross, and Polly Draper.

Cinematography was done by Conor Murphy, with music by Steven Price, combines intimate visuals and moody score.

Oh, Hi! delivers a fresh shake-up of rom-com conventions, weaving charm, chaos, and contemporary relationship dilemmas into one unpredictable journey. With its July release on the horizon, audiences should prepare for a comedy that’s as thought-provoking as it is relatable.
