20th Century Studios has released the first teaser trailer for Predator: Badlands, the latest installment in the iconic sci-fi franchise. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (Prey), the film introduces a fresh narrative set on a remote planet in the future.
The story follows Dek, a young Predator portrayed by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, who is exiled from his clan and embarks on a perilous journey. He forms an unexpected alliance with Thia, a synthetic humanoid played by Elle Fanning, as they confront formidable adversaries and uncover deeper secrets.
A New Perspective on the Predator
Unlike previous entries, Predator: Badlands shifts the focus to the Predator’s point of view, presenting Dek as an emotionally complex protagonist. The trailer hints at internal Yautja conflicts and a narrative that blends action with character-driven storytelling.
Connections to the ‘Alien’ Universe
The teaser also features subtle nods to the Alien franchise, including the presence of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation logo on Thia’s eyes, suggesting potential crossover elements. Fans have noted these Easter eggs as exciting hints at a shared universe.
Predator: Badlands is scheduled for theatrical release on November 7, 2025, including IMAX screenings. Additionally, Trachtenberg is directing an animated film titled Predator: Killers of Killers, set to premiere on Disney+ on June 6, 2025.
