Owen Wilson Leads Apple TV’s Promising New Golf Comedy Series ‘Stick’

Apple TV+ is set to premiere its latest original series, Stick, a heartfelt sports comedy starring and executive produced by Owen Wilson. The 10-episode series, created by Jason Keller, will debut globally on June 4, 2025, with the first three episodes available immediately, followed by weekly releases through July 23.

A Redemption Story on the Green

In Stick, Wilson portrays Pryce Cahill, a former professional golfer whose career was derailed two decades ago. After personal and professional setbacks, Pryce finds a chance at redemption by mentoring Santi Wheeler (Peter Dager), a talented yet troubled 17-year-old golf prodigy. The series follows their journey as they aim to qualify for a national tournament, confronting personal demons and forging an unexpected bond along the way.

Joining Wilson and Dager is a notable ensemble cast, including Marc Maron as Mitts, Pryce’s cynical former caddie; Mariana Treviño as Elena, Santi’s supportive mother; Lilli Kay as Zero, a teen drifter who becomes part of their makeshift family; Judy Greer as Amber-Lynn; and Timothy Olyphant as Clark Ross.

Behind the Scenes

Stick is produced by Apple Studios in association with Wise Monkey Films, Propagate Content, Entertainment 360, and Piece of Work Entertainment. The series boasts an impressive roster of executive producers, including Jason Keller, Owen Wilson, Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Guymon Casady, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, Christopher Moynihan, and Bill Callahan.

Early reviews of Stick have been mixed. Some critics praise the series for its character chemistry and emotional storytelling, drawing comparisons to the charm and warmth of Ted Lasso. Others critique it for its extended runtime and reliance on familiar sports redemption tropes.

The world premiere of Stick took place on May 29, 2025, at AMC Century City in Los Angeles. The event was attended by the main cast and executive producers, including Owen Wilson, Marc Maron, Peter Dager, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Judy Greer, Timothy Olyphant, Jason Keller, Ben Silverman, and Guymon Casady.

Stick premieres globally on Apple TV+ on June 4, 2025.
