The brand-new trailer for The Toxic Avenger reboot has dropped, showcasing Peter Dinklage’s transformation into the radioactive hero, along with a barrage of blood-soaked justice and satirical fury. The unrated horror-comedy lands in theaters on August 29, 2025, courtesy of Cineverse.
Plot
Janitor Winston Gooze (Peter Dinklage) is exposed to toxic waste after his employer denies him life-saving medical care. From humble sewer dweller to grotesque vigilante, he rises to fight corporate corruption—armed with a mop and mutant might.
Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood play villainous brothers plotting sinister schemes. Jacob Tremblay features as Winston’s son, with Taylour Paige and Jane Levy rounding out the ensemble.
The trailer is punctuated with gore, dark humor, and savage jabs—especially at the health-care industry. As Gizmodo notes, Toxie “takes gory aim at health care,” mixing violence with social commentary.
Reboot vs. Original
Director Macon Blair pushes the franchise into grittier, more graphic territory. This reboot retains the cult core—mutant justice—while embracing new characters and more visceral violence.
Marketed as “the biggest unrated film of all time,” it’s set to include all the extreme content fans expect—and then some.
Toxic Avenger opens August 29, 2025, in wide theatrical release, it was acquired by Cineverse following a premiere at Fantastic Fest 2023, ending its “unreleasable” status.
Blumhouse Games’s The Toxic Avenger trailer makes it clear—this is not your typical PG-13 reboot. With Peter Dinklage’s mutant justice, brutal splatter, and dark social satire, it promises to be the most unapologetically wild and unrated film of the summer.
