Leading indie film distributor IFC Films and their subsidiaries, Shudder and RLJE, have revealed their upcoming slate of Summer movies ranging from horror to drama.
Clown in a Cornfield
Based on the Bram Stoker award-winning horror novel by Adam Cesare, and adapted to a screenplay by Carter Blanchard and Craig, Clown in a Cornfield follows Quinn and her father, who have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.

Set in the scorching heat of a Spanish summer, the film follows Rose and her daughter Sofia as they travel to the seaside town of Almería to consult an enigmatic healer who may hold the key to Rose’s mysterious illness, which has led her to now use a wheelchair. But in the sun-drenched town, Sofia, trapped until now by her mother’s condition, begins to shed her inhibitions as she is drawn to the magnetic charms of a free spirited traveler, Ingrid. Sofia’s increased freedom becomes too much for her controlling mother, and as the hot sun beats down, their relationship simmers with pent-up resentments and bitterness, threatening to tear the fragile threads that hold them together.
