Netflix has dropped the official red-band trailer for Fixed, Genndy Tartakovsky’s long-stalled, dog‑centric R‑rated buddy comedy debuting on August 13, 2025. The film is his boldest experiment to date: a hand‑drawn, adult animated feature that daringly blends raunchy humor with heartfelt storytelling.
The trailer opens with Bull (voiced by Adam DeVine), a laid‑back bloodhound, waking up to the shocking news: he’s due to be neutered tomorrow morning. What follows is a frenetic 24‑hour frenetic misadventure as Bull rounds up his mismatched canine crew for one last “balls‑intact” romp.
Visual gags fly fast—dogs humping unsuspecting objects, lewd bathroom humor, and hyper‑exaggerated Dutch angles—but the tone flips when we see Bull’s tender side, especially in a scene where he gazes longingly at showdog Honey (Kathryn Hahn) across the street — as if to say: “Help me save face before I lose mine.”
Plot & Premise
Bull learns of his scheduled neutering the next morning, launching into a hyper‑raunchy “last hurrah” attempt to live it up one final time while grappling with heartbreak, identity, and bodily autonomy.
Conceived around 2009 under the working title Buds and later The Shift, Tartakovsky originally pitched a subversive vehicle based on his real‑life friend group. The joke that clicked? A dog discovering his nether regions were at risk.
Voice Cast
Adam DeVine takes the lead as Bull, the every-dog with “average balls” problems. Kathryin Hahn star alongside DeVine as Honey, the elegant showdog and Bull’s crush. Idris Elba also joins the cast as Rocco, a suave, tough boxer. Bobby Moynihan, Fred Armisen, and others fill out the rest.
Production
This is the first hand‑drawn feature by Sony Pictures Animation—collaborating with Lightstar Studios and Renegade Animation—to preserve that classic Tex Avery/Looney Tunes spirit.
Producer Michelle Murdocca and co-writer Jon Vitti joined Tartakovsky alongside story partners Steve Greenberg and Rich Lufrano. Tyler Bates and Joanne Higginbottom composed the uproarious, feel-good score.
Fixed was originally in the pipeline at Warner Bros. Discovery via New Line Cinema, slated for a 2024 theatrical debut. But in August 2024 it was shelved amid cost-cutting sweeps that axed projects like Batgirl. Fortunately, Sony reclaimed the rights and Netflix came onboard in April 2025, giving the project new life.
Tartakovsky has said he originally envisioned Fixed as a CG feature but ultimately insisted on 2D animation to preserve a warm, classic aesthetic reminiscent of Lady and the Tramp… but with uncensored dog balls. He even had to tone down visible genitals post-screening, joking about “coloring dog buttholes more subtly.”
