When Jim Henson’s fantasy music film Labyrinth, starring David Bowie, hit the theatres some 40 years ago, the critics had differing reviews, but in recent times the opinions became more uniform, giving it the cult classic tag. Now, for its 40th anniversary, The Jim Henson Company is bringing the film back to theatres in January 2026. This time around, it will be remastered in 4K Ultra HD.
Also, each screening will include a featurette celebrating the film’s fans, shot on location at the recent UK event “Labyrinth Experience & Masked Ball.”
Directed by Jim Henson himself, Labyrinth centers on Jennifer Connelly as 16-year-old Sarah Williams, who must race through a magical maze to save her baby stepbrother from The Goblin King, played by David Bowie in his most memorable role.
