Plot
Étoile follows the dancers and artistic staff of two prestigious ballet companies—one in New York City and the other in Paris—as they embark on an ambitious plan to rejuvenate interest in their art form. Facing challenges such as budget cuts and the aftermath of the pandemic, the companies initiate a transatlantic exchange of their top talents, aiming to revitalize their performances and attract new audiences.

The series features a stellar ensemble cast, including:
- Charlotte Gainsbourg as Geneviève, the interim general director of the Parisian ballet company.
- Luke Kirby as Jack, the executive director of the Metropolitan Ballet Theater in New York.
- Yanic Truesdale, Gideon Glick, Lou de Laâge, David Alvarez, Ivan du Pontavice, Taïs Vinolo, David Haig, and Simon Callow in supporting roles.
Production
The eight-episode series was shot on location in both New York and Paris, capturing the authentic essence of each city’s ballet culture. Notably, Étoile received a two-season order from Prime Video, underscoring the platform’s confidence in the show’s potential.
Amy Sherman-Palladino, who trained as a dancer, expressed a longstanding desire to authentically portray the dance world on screen. She noted that the series aims to capture “the weirdness of the dance world,” highlighting the unique and compelling nature of ballet professionals.
Étoile is scheduled to debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on April 24, 2025.
