Shudder and RLJE Films have unveiled the chilling official trailer for Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story, a gripping adaptation of Joe Hill’s 2004 novella (from 20th Century Ghosts) that reinterprets the Dracula mythos through a haunting family drama lens. The film is slated for theatrical release on July 11, 2025, before streaming on Shudder.
Plot & Premise
Set in 1914 on a remote ranch house that feels more like a haunted fortress, the story centers on Abraham Van Helsing (Titus Welliver), who has isolated himself and his two sons—Max (Brady Hepner) and Rudy (Judah Mackey)—from the world. When their mother Mina (Jocelin Donahue) begins acting strangely, the boys uncover their father’s disturbing history with Dracula and face a legacy steeped in violence, paranoia, and supernatural dread.
The trailer hints that Dracula may no longer be a ghost story, but a looming, blurred threat in their isolated nightmare. Brief but fierce snapshots of a father drilling holes, a frightened mother, and haunting lines like, “The devil is coming,” set the atmospheric dread.
Cast & Production
Titus Welliver headlines as a tormented Abraham Van Helsing, Jocelin Donahue steps into the emotionally complex role of Mina, and the Van Helsing boys are portrayed by Brady Hepner and Judah Mackey. Aurora Perrineau also appears, rounding out the atmospheric cast.
The film is written and directed by Natasha Kermani, noted for her emotionally intense horror pieces, producing a compact, 90-minute thriller.
Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story invites audiences into a masterfully subverted gothic narrative—part family drama, part haunted-house horror, steeped in legacy and madness. With its layered performances, stylish atmosphere, and innovative take on Dracula lore, this July release is poised to stand out as one of the most intriguing and emotionally resonant horror films of 2025.
