A24 has released the first trailer for their new movie Friendship. Writer-director Andrew DeYoung takes Tim Robinson’s signature cringe comedy to the big screen, alongside Paul Rudd, in a laugh-until-you-cry nightmare comedy about male bonding gone awry.
Synopsis:
Suburban dad Craig falls hard for his charismatic new neighbor, as Craig’s attempts to make an adult male friend threaten to ruin both of their lives.
Friendship first premiered on Sept. 8, 2024 at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of its Midnight Madness section and A24 acquired it a week later.
Tim Robinson, best known for his Netflix sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson (for which he earned three Emmys) is making his first starring role in a movie with Friendship.
Paul Rudd on the other hand, is a well-established figure in the industry at this point, from his roles on Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Clueless and I Love You, Man, to his work in the MCU as Ant-Man / Scott Lang. This is his second starring role in an A24 film, as he’s set to appear in Death of a Unicorn alongside Jenna Ortega, in theaters this March.
Nick Weidenfeld, Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and John Holland serve as producers. Executive producers were Paul Rudd, Tracy Rosenblum, Alexis Garcia and DeYoung.
Friendship is slated for a theatrical release this May, following a March 9 SXSW premiere. Want to check this one out?
