The official reports from July 3, 1971 say that the Doors legendary singer Jim Morrison was found dead in a bathtub of his apartment in Paris, found by his then girlfriend Pamela Courson.
Yet, since then, conspiracy theories have long persisted that suggest he may have faked his own death after becoming disillusioned with the fame and attention his success had brought him.
Now, a new documentary titled Before The End, created by Doors superfan Jeff Finn, examines the “evidence” of the theories that Jim Morrison may still be alive, including one revolving around a man named ‘Frank X’, who works in maintenance in Syracuse, New York, but who some believe is Morrison in disguise.
Frank was photographed with Doors drummer John Densmore in 2013 and has been noted to share physical similarities with Morrison. It is also believed that he has revealed in the past that he shares many interests with Morrison, including the work of French poet Charles Baudelaire.
One reason that speculation has grown about Morrison’s death is that there was no autopsy conducted on his body. French law did not require one to take place unless foul play was suspected, which it was not.
Three-part documentary Before The End: Searching for Jim Morrison is streaming now on Apple TV.
