’28 Years Later’ Trailer Unleashes a Terrifying Return to the Rage Virus Apocalypse

The official trailer for 28 Years Later, the highly anticipated sequel in the post-apocalyptic horror franchise, has been released, offering a chilling glimpse into a world still ravaged by the Rage Virus nearly three decades after its initial outbreak.

A New Chapter in the ’28’ Saga

Directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, 28 Years Later marks the first installment of a planned trilogy that continues the harrowing narrative established in 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). The film is set to premiere in theaters on June 20, 2025.

The newly released trailer introduces viewers to a group of survivors who have established a fortified existence on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When two members venture into the mainland, they encounter horrifying revelations, including mutated infected and transformed human survivors.

The trailer features a haunting narration of Rudyard Kipling’s 1903 poem “Boots,” recited by actor Taylor Holmes, underscoring the relentless and oppressive atmosphere of the film.

Cast and Production

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, and Alfie Williams. Notably, Cillian Murphy, who portrayed Jim in the original film, serves as an executive producer for this installment.

Upon its release, the movie’s first trailer quickly garnered significant attention, amassing over 60 million views within the first 24 hours and becoming the second most-watched horror movie trailer in history.

Following 28 Years Later, the franchise is set to continue with 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, directed by Nia DaCosta and scheduled for release on January 16, 2026.
