Vans has officially introduced the all-new Old Skool 36FM, a modern reimagining of its legendary silhouette that blends timeless skate culture heritage with futuristic design updates. This latest release offers sneakerheads and style aficionados a fresh take on one of the most beloved models in the Vans lineup.
A Classic Reborn: The Old Skool 36FM
Originally launched in the 1970s, the Vans Old Skool quickly became a staple in skate, punk, and streetwear scenes thanks to its iconic side stripe and durable canvas-suede build. The newly unveiled Old Skool 36FM keeps that spirit alive while introducing cutting-edge materials, updated cushioning, and an edgy, streamlined silhouette.
First showcased at Milan Design Week, Vans’ Old Skool 36 FM sneaker is heavily inspired by sound elements. FM, which stands for “Future Make” (and possibly alludes to FM radios), takes cues from sound waves, as seen with its dual-waved rubber outsole.
“We wanted to create a silhouette that speaks to today’s generation while honoring the DNA of the original Old Skool,” said a Vans spokesperson. “The 36FM is more than a shoe—it’s a statement that connects the past and the future of Vans style.”
The new Old Skool 36 FM is only the latest from Vans’ luxe sub-label OTW. They’re available now on vans.com and at select Vans retailers globally. Prices start at $125 USD, and select colorways are expected to sell out quickly due to high demand and limited quantities.
