Tom Sachs x NikeCraft Unveil the Highly-Anticipated Mars Yard 3.0 Sneaker

Artist Tom Sachs and NikeCraft are finally releasing the long-awaited Mars Yard 3.0 this September, marking a major evolution in this cult-favorite collaboration series that began in 2012. Fans eager to “earn” a pair will have to prove their dedication—literal—and be ready for a global roll-out via a unique challenge system.

Design Upgrades & Technical Features

  • Advanced Midsole & Outsole: New soft React foam paired with a carbon-fiber shank offers the bounce and stability of performance running shoes in a lifestyle silhouette.
  • Reinforced Protection: A fresh black TPU toe cap and TPU heel clip boost durability, maintaining Mars Yard’s rugged aesthetic.
  • Improved Fit System: Redesigned lacing with a ribbed polyester front tab (now serving as lace keeper), oversized eyelets, and staggered eyestays ensure a secure and technical fit.
  • Dual Sockliners: Includes cork and mesh insoles—to choose depending on terrain—each featuring Sachs’ signature scientific doodles.
  • Signature Aesthetic: Retains the classic “Natural/Sport Red/Maple/Sail/Black” color palette with a new silkscreen Swoos.

Release Details & Access Method

  • Launch Date: Set for September 5, 2025, with retail prices at $275–$285 depending on regions.
  • How to Buy: Unlike typical sneaker drops, the Mars Yard 3.0 will be accessible only via the I.S.R.U. app. From mid-July through late August, participants must complete weekly “Summer Camp” challenges to earn spots on a leaderboard. Only top scorers will gain purchase access on launch day.
  • Documentary Launch: A companion film, A Brief History of the Mars Yard, debuted alongside the announcement—detailing the project’s artistic and technical journey.

First released in 2012, the Mars Yard 3.0 is the continuation of Sachs’ exploration into wearable art—combining aerospace aesthetics with functional footwear. This release follows Sachs’ reconciliation with Nike, restoring their partnership after a brief pause—a reflection of both creative and cultural recalibration.
