Nike is Re-Introducing Ken Griffey Jr.’s Iconic Air Griffey Max 1 “Freshwater”

Nike is set to reintroduce the iconic Air Griffey Max 1 “Freshwater” during the Holiday 2025 season, delighting sneaker enthusiasts and baseball fans alike. This release pays homage to baseball legend Ken Griffey Jr. and celebrates the enduring legacy of his first signature sneaker.

Originally launched in 1996, the Air Griffey Max 1 “Freshwater” draws inspiration from Griffey’s tenure with the Seattle Mariners. The sneaker’s colorway reflects the team’s hues, featuring a blend of black, white, and the distinctive Freshwater teal. Design elements include Griffey’s jersey number “24” emblazoned on the ankle strap and the recognizable Nike Swoosh on the toe box.

This iteration stays true to the original design, boasting a combination of premium materials such as nubuck and smooth leather. The upper showcases black overlays contrasted by Freshwater green underlays, while red accents highlight the branding details. The sneaker is equipped with a wavy midsole housing visible Air units, ensuring both style and comfort.

The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Freshwater” is scheduled for release during the Holiday 2025 season. The sneaker will be available in men’s sizes, pricing hasn’t been confirmed but the most recent reissue of the model was priced at $170. Sneaker aficionados can purchase the pair through Nike’s official website and select retailers.

This marks the first re-release of the “Freshwater” colorway since its 2021 revival, which commemorated the sneaker’s 25th anniversary. Given the model’s storied history and its significance in both sneaker and baseball cultures, anticipation is high for this upcoming drop.
