For the first time in over two decades, Marvel and DC Comics are collaborating on a crossover event featuring two of their most iconic characters: Deadpool and Batman. This unprecedented partnership will unfold through two one-shot issues, each offering a unique perspective on the meeting of the Merc with a Mouth and the Dark Knight.
Deadpool/Batman #1 – September 17, 2025
The crossover kicks off with Deadpool/Batman #1, published by Marvel Comics. Written by Zeb Wells, known for his work on Amazing Spider-Man and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film, and illustrated by Greg Capullo, famed for his tenure on Batman and X-Force, this issue sees Deadpool taking on a mercenary job in Gotham City. His antics inevitably draw the attention of Batman, leading to a clash of personalities and styles. Wells expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “After writing Amazing Spider-Man for 60 issues, I told Marvel I needed a break. Marvel told me I could do that or I could write a comic starring Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break.”

Batman/Deadpool #1 – November 2025
Following up in November, DC Comics will release Batman/Deadpool #1, penned by legendary writer Grant Morrison and illustrated by Dan Mora. While specific plot details are under wraps, the creative team promises a story that delves deep into the dynamics between the two characters. DC President Jim Lee commented on the collaboration, highlighting the unique storytelling opportunity this crossover presents.

A Legacy of Crossovers
This event marks the first major crossover between Marvel and DC since 2003’s JLA/Avengers. Historically, such collaborations have been rare but significant, with past events like Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man (1976) and the DC vs. Marvel series in the 1990s leaving a lasting impact on the comic book industry.
Both one-shot issues will feature backup stories showcasing additional character pairings from the Marvel and DC universes, though details on these stories are yet to be announced. Fans can look forward to these unique narratives that explore new interactions between beloved characters.
Deadpool/Batman #1 will be available on September 17, 2025, followed by Batman/Deadpool #1 in November. These issues will be accessible through comic book retailers and digital platforms.
