In a remarkable fusion of snack culture and pop iconography, a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto resembling the Pokémon character Charizard, affectionately dubbed “Cheetozard,” has fetched an astounding $87,840 at auction.
Discovered by 1st & Goal Collectibles between 2018 and 2022, Cheetozard gained significant attention on social media in late 2024, amplifying its allure among collectors.
The auction, managed by Goldin Auctions, commenced with an initial bid of $250 on February 10, 2025, and concluded on March 2, 2025, after attracting 60 bids. The winning bid stood at $72,000, with additional fees bringing the total to $87,840.
To commemorate its unique form, the three-inch-long Cheeto was mounted onto a custom-designed Pokémon card and encased in a clear protective box, ensuring its preservation as a distinctive collectible.
This sale underscores a burgeoning market for uniquely shaped snacks. Notably, in 2017, a Cheeto resembling the late gorilla Harambe reportedly sold for $99,900 on eBay, though the legitimacy of the final bid was disputed.
Additionally, a Cheeto mirroring Michael Jordan’s iconic “Jumpman” logo is currently up for auction, with bids reaching $575.
Charizard, introduced in the first generation of Pokémon games, has remained a fan favorite, symbolizing power and nostalgia. The substantial sum garnered by Cheetozard reflects the enduring appeal of Pokémon and the lengths collectors will go to obtain rare memorabilia.
