‘The Beginning After End’ Anime Has Revealed Its Release Date and New Trailer

The television anime adaptation of TurtleMe’s popular web novel and webcomic The Beginning After The End has just revealed exciting new details. The anime will premiere on April 2, 2024.

A new promotional video, key visual, and additional cast members were announced. Fans also got a sneak peek at the opening theme song, “KINGSBLOOD,” performed by KALA, a Los Angeles-based Canadian artist. This marks KALA’s first anime theme song. KALA shared that anime has always influenced their lives and music, and they hope “KINGSBLOOD” will not only excite fans but inspire them to grow and push forward.

Here’s a look at the newly announced voice cast:

  • Yamato Kinjo as Reynolds Leywin
  • Rena Maeda as Alice Leywin
  • Shinya Takahashi as Durden Walker
  • Taihi Kimura as Adam Krensh
  • Miyū Ogura as Helen Shard
  • Riko Akechi as Angela Rose
  • Shiori Izawa as Sylvia

The anime will first air on April 2 at 11:30 p.m. JST on the AT-X channel, followed by its broadcast on Fuji TV’s +Ultra block (technically April 3 at 12:45 a.m. JST). Additional airings will happen on Kansai TV on April 3 and Toukai TV on April 5. For international fans, Crunchyroll will stream the anime worldwide, excluding Asia — but including India.

The anime’s first season will have 24 episodes. Interestingly, this is the first anime adaptation of an American web novel and webcomic, as confirmed by Tapas.

The anime is directed by Keitarō Motonaga (Date A Live, Jormungand) and produced by Studio A-Cat. Takamitsu Kōno (Utawarerumono: The False Faces), handles the series scripts. Masami Sueoka a designs the characters, and Keiji Inai (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) composes the music. Slow Curve is producing the anime.

TurtleMe, the creator of The Beginning After The End, is involved as the story supervisor and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Mike Zhu and Kevin Nicklaus from Tapas Entertainment, along with Gabrielle Luu from TurtleMe LLC.

The Japanese title of the anime is Saikyō no Ō-sama, Nidome no Jinsei wa Nani wo Suru? — which translates to The Strongest King: What Will He Do with His Second Life?

The Beginning After The End web novel first launched in English on Tapas in January 2017. The story follows King Grey, a once-powerful ruler who is reborn as Arthur Leywin in a magical world full of mythical creatures and epic battles. Arthur must master his magical abilities, protect those he loves, and uncover the secrets of his mysterious reincarnation — all while forging new friendships and facing dangerous enemies.

The webcomic adaptation debuted in July 2018 on Tapas. Originally illustrated by Fuyuki23, the art duties shifted to Rise Entertainment for Season 6 in June 2023. After a brief hiatus, the webcomic resumed on October 19 with MGK-story taking over production.
