After premiering at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, this haunting post-apocalyptic fantasy is set for North American theatrical release starting November 19, 2025, courtesy of GKIDS. Restoration Highlights
The restoration was personally overseen by director Mamoru Oshii. It honors the film’s 40th anniversary with renewed visual fidelity and a premiere at Cannes’ Cinéma de la Plage.
GKIDS will bring the remastered film to theaters on November 19, 2025. Prior to that, it will be featured at major festivals including Fantastic Fest and the New York Film Festival (NYFF).
