A New ‘Fist of the North Star’ Anime is Set to Release in 2026

Warner Bros. Japan has officially announced a brand-new anime adaptation of the legendary series Fist of the North Star, coming in 2026. Originally created by writer Buronson and illustrator Tetsuo Hara, this iconic action series is getting a modern reboot, and fans are already hyped!

The announcement was made on June 26, 2025, and it came with an exciting bonus: the first official visual for the new anime. Though we haven’t gotten a full trailer yet, the art alone has fans excited for what’s coming.

Plot & Premise

If you’re new to the series, here’s a quick rundown: Fist of the North Star is set in a post-apocalyptic world where society has crumbled after a nuclear disaster. In this harsh wasteland, only the strong survive. The story follows Kenshiro, a quiet but powerful warrior who uses a deadly martial art called Hokuto Shinken. With seven scars on his chest and a mission to save his fiancée Yuria, Kenshiro travels the broken land, fighting off tyrants and protecting the weak.

The original manga ran from 1983 to 1988 and was followed by an anime in 1984. Since then, Fist of the North Star has remained one of the most famous and influential series in anime history. It’s known for its intense battles, over-the-top martial arts, and the iconic line: “You are already dead.”

Now, this new 2026 anime aims to bring the story to a whole new generation, with updated visuals and possibly a fresh take on the classic tale.
