A24 has unveiled the first trailer for their new movie, Death of a Unicorn, a surreal horror/comedy/thriller starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega.
Synopsis:
A father (Paul Rudd) and daughter (Jenna Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.
Death of a Unicorn marks the directorial debut of Alex Scharfman, who also penned the script. It also features a star-studded cast. Alongside, the aforementioned Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Jessica Hynes, and Richard E. Grant will be joining the film.
From the looks of the trailer, Death of a Unicorn fits nicely into A24‘s growing catalog of surreal, left-field thrillers, and show promise of a lot of twists and turns.
Producers included Scharfman, Drew Houpt and Lucas Joaquin of Secret Engine, Tyler Campellone and Lars Knudsen of Square Peg, and Tim Headington and Theresa Steele Page of Ley Line Entertainment. Exec producers are Ari Aster, Michael Williams, Jacob Epstein, David Darby, Nate Kamiya, Rudd and Ortega.
Also worthy of note is the score, which Halloween‘s John Carpenter penned along with his son, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies. Death of a Unicorn is set to release Spring 2025. Will you be checking this one out?
