The Flaming Lips are celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of their best albums, The Soft Bulletin (1999) with a limited-edition 2xLP vinyl reissue.
The vinyl will be released on September 6, 2024, and follows last year’s 20th anniversary limited-edition vinyl of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. The 25th-anniversary edition of The Soft Bulletin is packaged as a 2xLP with Zoetrope designs courtesy of artist Drew Tetz and Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne. The reissue will also feature brand-new sleeve artwork and insert with text written by Coyne.
The Soft Bulletin was the ninth studio album by the Flaming Lips, released by Warner Bros. Records on May 17, 1999, in the United Kingdom, and on June 22, 1999, in the United States. The album was released to widespread acclaim, and was hailed by critics as a departure from their previous guitar-heavy alternative rock sound into a more layered, intricately arranged work. The album is now considered by many to be the Flaming Lips’s masterpiece.

The reissued album coincides with a major stretch of 2024 tour dates for The Flaming Lips, where they’ll support Weezer on their tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Blue Album. Meanwhile, The Flaming Lips will play two special shows in their hometown of Oklahoma City in late August — they’ll perform their 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots in full on night one, and The Soft Bulletin in full on night two.
