A24 is back, with a new tailer for it’s upcoming horror flick, The Front Room, starring the iconic singer/actress Brandy. The new trailer features an anxiety inducing first look at the story, which pits a pregnant Belinda (played by Brandy) going head-to-head with her just moved in mother-in-law, played by Kathryn Hunter.
The official synopsis reads as:
Everything goes to hell for newly-pregnant Belinda(Brandy) after her mother-in-law(Kathryn Hunter) moves in. As the diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere…
The Front Room is coming our way from Max and Sam Eggers, the brothers of The Witch director Robert Eggers, and was initially announced back in August 2022.
Max Eggers co-wrote The Lighthouse with his brother Robert and was a production assistant on Robert’s 2008 short film adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe story The Tell-Tale Heart. Sam Eggers was also a production assistant on that short film, and on The Witch. Sam also co-wrote and co-edited the 2018 documentary Olympia, about actress Olympia Dukakis.
It also sees Brandy returning back to the horror genre, as she had previously starred in the ’90s slasher I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Tony Award-winning actor Andrew Burnap (Snow White), and Neal Huff (Spotlight) will also star alongside Brandy and Kathryn Hunter.
A24 has made a name for itself for delivering tense psychological horrors that leave a lasting impression, and based upon the trailer, it looks like may have done it again with The Front Room.
The Front Room is set to come to theaters September 6th. Will you be checking this one out?
