Waives, an innovative producer hailing from the eclectic streets of Camden Town, London has joined forces with the soulful singer REIGNS to create their latest single, “Collateral Damage.”
The single was written by Dee Adam (Mae Stephens, Dido, Ryan Mack), REIGNS (Benny Benassi, Low Steppa, Breathe Carolina), and Rory O’Hare (Hannah Boleyn, Franklin, Nathan C). This pop liquid drum and bass track showcases a unique blend of Waives’ experimental production with REIGNS’ emotive and powerful vocals.
Having spent years crafting music behind the scenes for a variety of artists, Waives recently decided to pursue a more personal path in music. After relocating from the fast-paced London scene to the serene coastal landscape, Waives now draws inspiration from the ocean and the creative freedom that comes with it. Known for a left-field approach to production, Waives’ work transcends genres, driven by an instinct to break boundaries and create what hasn’t yet been imagined.
Speaking on “Collateral Damage,” Waives shared “this would not be my usual genre but it just felt right in the moment so we went with that instinctive feeling and I’m really proud of the song we’ve created”.
REIGNS notes “This tune resonated with me as soon as it came to life in the studio. Experiencing the ups and downs of modern day dating and remembering your worth and deciding when to walk away can be hard to navigate. this is for everyone who’s feeling that!”
REIGNS, whose sound is heavily influenced by iconic artists such as Janis Joplin and Nina Simone, brings a unique blend of soul and modern edge to her music. She first gained attention with her single “Take Your Power,” which made its way onto over 250 Spotify playlists, including New Music Friday and UK Top 50. In recent years, REIGNS has collaborated with an impressive list of artists and producers, from Carl Cox to DJ Zinc and Sam Divine, establishing herself as a force in the music world.
“Collateral Damage” is a powerful collaboration that merges Waives’ unconventional production style with REIGNS’ compelling vocal presence.
