The Studio Behind ‘Dandadan’ is Bringing a New Exciting Anime Adaptation of ‘Sanda’

Science SARU, the studio behind hits like Dandadan, Inu-Oh and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, unveiled an exciting new anime project titled SANDA. Based on Paru Itagaki’s (BEASTARS) manga, this unique anime is a mix of action, mystery, and holiday cheer, making it a highly anticipated release for the last quarter of 2025.

Ayumu Murase, known for voicing Shōy Hinata, will play the titular character Kazushige Sanda. Meanwhile, Hiroki Tochi (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) will bring Santa Claus to life. The teaser tagline, “Santa, please find my friend,” suggests an emotionally layered and gripping story.

The anime is adapted from Paru Itagaki’s manga, which ran from July 2021 to its conclusion in Weekly Shonen Champion. Known for blending the bizarre with emotional storytelling, Itagaki’s manga explores deep themes with a unique twist.

The Story

The story is set in a futuristic world with a declining birth rate. It follows Kazushige Sanda, who learns his classmate, Shiori Fuyumura, plans to kill him because of a “curse” he carries. Complicating matters is Fuyumura’s missing friend. The plot promises a mix of action, mystery, and emotional depth. Santa Claus plays a surprising role, adding a festive yet mysterious twist to the narrative. The futuristic setting, combined with holiday themes and mystery, promises to deliver something fresh for anime fans.
