LA singer/songwriter Temme Scott has released her highly-anticipated crowd-funded sophomore album A Long Year, available to stream now on all DSPs worldwide. It includes alt-pop gems such as “SPACE” and “Healing,” as well as heartbreaking ballads like “Softly” and “Contract Killer.” The record is the culmination of three years of life transitions, the most significant of which was Temme’s struggles in residential mental health treatment.
“This album covers the feelings of absolute hopelessness towards mental health and how to get back on your feet and help yourself heal,” says Temme. “For my second album, we wanted to stick to my acoustic roots, while incorporating more contemporary pop production elements— there’s a very clear sparkle of pop throughout an otherwise very singer-songwriter record.”
Temme Scott is unpretentious. Based in Los Angeles, Scott doesn’t shy away from rawness. Her candid lyrics and folk-pop-influenced singer-songwriter melodies fuse with gritty intonation and soulful but tender vocals to reveal something hiding in plain sight. Vulnerability is her biggest strength, but she’s also, in her own words, “really just trying to have a good time.”
In August of 2023, Temme Scott successfully funded A Long Year via Kickstarter, 100% backed by fans, many of whom she met at previous house shows.
Scott’s music evokes the earnestness of a child playing in a sandbox — though with markedly more adult themes. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty, to get dust under her fingernails, so long as she’s being honest with all of us about what she makes and what she feels.
