To celebrate Y2K opening in theaters this weekend, director Kyle Mooney takes us back to 1999 for a day in the life — hacky sacks included.
Y2K Synopsis:
Two high school nobodies make the decision to crash the last major celebration before the new millennium on New Year’s Eve 1999. The night becomes even crazier than they could have ever dreamed when the clock strikes midnight.
Y2K boasts an impressive cast with Rachel Zegler, Alicia Silverstone, Julian Dennison, and Jaeden Martell all set to star, and Jonah Hill is also onboard as a producer.
It promises to be a coming-of-age comedy that quickly descends into gory chaos, mixing humor with horror for a potentially wild ride. Creating a hilarious “what if” situation regarding the hysteria surrounding New Year’s Eve of 1999. A bit ironic considering the whole cast is filled with Gen-Zers.
Y2K is Kyle Mooney’s directorial debut. He’s an American comedian, actor, screenwriter, and film director, and was a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 2013 to 2022.
