Special Showings at IFC Center: ‘It’s Not Me,’ ‘The Bibi Files,’ and ‘From Here to Eternity’

One night only: Leos Carax's new film

The renowned IFC Center is the ultimate entertainment space for New Yorkers seeking out the best in independent film. Originally opened in June 2005, following an extensive renovation of the historic Waverly theater, and shows the latest indie film has to offer.

This week, IFC Center is showcasing some key new movies like Leos Carax’s new film It’s Not Me, The Bibi Files, and a special screening of From Here to Eternity.

It’s Not Me

One night only: Don’t miss this special screening of the newest film from Leos Carax, the visionary filmmaker of Holy Motors and Annette, plus Carax’s segment from the omnibus 2008 film Tokyo! In this new film, a hit at Cannes and the New York Film Festival, Carax sums up a 40-year career, paying tribute to his New Wave influences along with more than a century of cinema. “An iconoclastic and impudent inquiry into power, politics, and image-making that is at once wry and playful, oblique and deeply personal.” – New York Film Festival

The Bibi Files

Using never-seen-before interrogation footage, this behind-the-scenes investigation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his inner circle provides an unflinching gaze behind the headlines. Petty vanity and a sense of entitlement leads to corruption, and to the unwillingness of the Netanyahus to cede power. The extreme right senses opportunity in Bibi’s weakness, and the dominos fall.

From Here to Eternity

Celebrate the 70th anniversary of the multi-Oscar wins of this American classic with this special screening, introduced by the daughter of one of its stars. In this landmark film, passion and tragedy collide on a military base as a fateful day in December 1941 draws near. Private Prewitt (Montgomery Clift) is a soldier and former boxer being manipulated by his superior and peers. His friend Maggio (Frank Sinatra) tries to help him but has his own troubles. Sergeant Warden (Burt Lancaster) and Karen Holmes (Deborah Kerr) tread on dangerous ground as lovers in an illicit affair. Each of their lives will be changed when their stories culminate in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Winner of eight Oscars®, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting awards for Sinatra in a career-defining role and for Donna Reed as a not-so-wholesome club hostess.

Special Screening Sun, Dec 15 at 7:30 introduced by Donna Reed’s daughter, Mary Owen.
