Aniplex has unveiled a new key visual for Solo Leveling Season 2, “Arise from the Shadow,” during the Aniplex Online Fest stream. Fans can mark their calendars for the anime’s highly anticipated return in January 2025.
This announcement follows the successful first season of the anime adaptation of Chugong’s popular manhwa, illustrated by the late DUBU from REDICE Studio.
In addition to the announcement of Season 2, Aniplex revealed a compilation film titled Solo Leveling ReAwakening. This film will recap the events of the first season while also providing fans with an exclusive first look at the opening two episodes of the upcoming season.
The film is scheduled for a November 29th release in Japan. A teaser for the screening was also released during the stream, building excitement for the series’ return.
Crunchyroll will continue to stream the anime, including the second season, making it accessible to international audiences. The first season of Solo Leveling premiered in Japan on January 6, 2023, with Crunchyroll adding the English dub shortly after on January 20.
The series is set in a world where “gates” connecting to other dimensions have opened, leading to the rise of “hunters”—humans with supernatural powers. The story follows Jinwoo Sung, initially known as the weakest hunter, who embarks on a journey to become the strongest after a life-threatening encounter in a hidden dungeon.
Solo Leveling Season 2 continues to be produced by A-1 Pictures, with Shunsuke Nakashige directing and Noboru Kimura as the head writer. The character designs are handled by Tomoko Sudo, while Hiroyuki Sawano, renowned for his work on Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist, composes the music. The opening theme song, “LEveL,” is performed by TOMORROW X TOGETHER, in collaboration with Sawano.
