Scottish Singer-Songwriter Theo Bleak Shares Emotive New Single “In My House”

Invites Listeners Into A Soundscape Of Quiet Introspection

Scottish singer-songwriter Theo Bleak shares her second single of the year, “In My House.” Written and produced with bandmate Mark Johnston and collaborator Dan Gautreau (Ben Howard and Paulo Nutini), it’s an examination of the feelings that bubble up once you’re left to your own devices within your own space. Being home alone can be a source of solace, but opens the door to rumination that only time with yourself brings. Displaying Theo Bleak’s ability to infuse levity into the most melancholy songs, “In My House” brings melody to the forefront, accompanied by airy acoustic guitar and swirling production.

“’In My House’ is a lighter song about how much I love being alone,” Bleak says. “I felt so uncomfortable in January of this year, I just had a bad feeling. A really important friendship had broken down and I knew it was close to the end. I went into the studio and thought about escapism, the safety of my romanticized perception of life. Somewhere that their disdain of me couldn’t reach. I love astrology and thought about all the traits of being an Aquarius, and leaned into the solitary aspect. ‘In My House’ is about the person I actually am, shielded from even the worst interpretations of my personality.”

Today’s release marks Bleak’s second single of the year, following a collaboration with Glasgow stalwarts The Twilight Sad on “Don’t Borrow Grief from Later” and an EP of fan-favorite demos titled Heaven.wav. As recent additions to her discography, these tracks build upon a collection of EPs filled with innovative songwriting, raw countryside revelations and constant sonic evolution from one song to the next.

Theo Bleak’s work is more than just music; it is an exploration of the human experience through the lens of nature’s ever-changing beauty. With each piece, she offers a moment of introspection, a chance to reconnect with the world and with oneself. Her music is a journey—a walk through the countryside of the mind and heart, where every step brings a new revelation.
