Fast rising folk pop singer and songwriter David Kushner just announced his debut album The Dichotomy, arriving August 30 via Miserable Music Group, along with his new single and video, “Humankind.”
The new video reflects the frightening capacity for humans to be cruel to each other with images of ominous cavernous spaces, mysterious dark figures, and militant scenes of the blind leading the blind. “Humankind just lets me down,” sings David Kushner as he flickers between the dark human world inside and the solemn clarity of the outdoors. But even as he laments these fundamental human struggles, Kushner’s powerful vocals never sound defeated. Instead, he conveys a message of unity and empathy, reminding us that regardless of our roles or perceived power we share a common journey through life’s challenges. Full of raw emotion and insightful lyricism, “Humankind” leads us into the world of The Dichotomy.
On the album, Kushner shares: “This project has been a long time coming and I’m excited I finally get to share it with all of you. I wanted to depict humankind’s struggle between light and darkness. It’s something that all of us feel in our own way, and certainly something I feel daily. I want people to understand that there are always two sides to everything, with two forces at play. Recognizing this reality is the first step towards finding true purpose in the struggle.”
