JUNO nominated drummer, producer, and composer Salin has just announced her forthcoming LP Rammana, set for release on March 28, 2025, alongside its new single “Puaj.” The fourth single from the album which introduces a new genre coined “Afro Isaan Soul.”
“Puaj” showcases Salin’s deft skill as an artist and the dynamic sounds of the bamboo jew’s harp, creating hauntingly beautiful tones that connect listeners to a rich musical heritage. This unique instrument holds a deep history, originating from various cultures around the world and notably used by the Nyah Kur tribe of Thailand.
“Each note tells a story, echoing the lives and experiences of those who play it,” says Salin. “It’s a reminder that music is a universal language, transcending borders and uniting us all in a shared experience of joy and creativity.”
Salin will be performing at Winter Jazzfest in New York on January 11 at Baby’s All Right alongside Lion Babe, Smag På Dig Selv (SPDS), Dominique Fils-Aimé and more.
Her current music explores the enchanting sounds of Northeast Thailand and marries it with the 70’s psychedelia of West Africa, all through the lens of modern soulful production. Through her music, she ponders themes of identity, spirituality, and humanity, all paired with a dose of fun to create a unique sonic journey for her listeners.
