MALIA Delivers a Neo-Soul Metamorphosis on New Album ‘Back in My Body’

An invitation for others to embark on a healing journey

Los Angeles-based singer, MALIA, has returned with her new album Back in My Body. Following the heartbreak experienced in MALIA’s 2022 project What’s After, “I Love You?Back in My Body emerges as a concept album that captivates the senses, elevates the mind, and touches the soul.

In this deeply personal and cathartic journal of self-discovery and healing, MALIA captures her transformative journey as she reclaims her life story. Listeners are invited to experience a fully immersive and profound musical metamorphosis as MALIA delves into illuminating subconscious patterns, healing inner wounds, and ultimately reclaiming responsibility for her own destiny.

It’s a meditation on quieting the yearning for acceptance she was looking for outside of herself, reconnecting with the divine, and creating a grounded and safe sense of home. Years of hardening and buried beauty are unraveled in this great softening, paving a new path that leads her out of her head and back into her body: A better version of herself emerges.

The hope is that this album may serve not only as an inspiration, but as an invitation for others to embark on a healing journey, as well. They’ll certainly have a soundtrack for the experience.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, the alternative R&B/neo-soul songstress garnered some initial buzz after opening for The Internet’s Syd on her West Coast tour and went on to amass 40+ millions of streams on her EP’s Late Bloomer and Ripe. More recently, she was the only artist asked by Alicia Keys to cover a song for the 20th anniversary of Songs In A Minor and was featured on Alicia’s Spotify profile. She also completed North American tours in support of both JMSN and Corinne Bailey Rae. MALIA’s new album Back in My Body was released on August 15th.
