Alt-rock artist and producer Letdown. unleashes his latest single, “Bad Childhood.” The gripping track is the newest release from Letdown.’s awaited debut album, set to drop later this year via Big Loud Rock. “Bad Childhood” captures the raw and unfiltered essence of Letdown.’s music, diving deep into personal struggles and emotional turmoil, and promising to resonate with fans everywhere.
Familiar-sounding yet distinct, “Bad Childhood” opens with a wavy guitar melody that sets an upbeat tone, contrasting sharply with the song’s deeper meaning. Bouncy drums drive the rhythm, adding energy and urgency, while record scratching adds a touch of 2000s pop-punk nostalgia. Irresistible gang vocals over a cheerful whistle uplift the message, “I hate it, I do, only problem is you, singing like ‘la-da da da da da-da-daaa,’ that’s just my bad childhood.”
“’Bad Childhood’ is a candid reflection of my pain, resilience, and the complex emotions tied to my past. It poignantly delves into my tumultuous upbringing, capturing my emotions from that time,” says Letdown.. “I recount a series of harrowing experiences, all underscored by a pervasive sense of abandonment and resentment. The chorus’s declaration of hatred and the haunting acknowledgment of unending grudges reflect the lasting scars of a difficult childhood.”
The new track follows on the heels of May single “Raincoat,” another catchy-yet-emotional offering from his upcoming album.
This summer, Letdown. will be hitting the road again, performing on the Idobi Radio Summer School tour alongside Stand Atlantic, Magnolia Park, The Home Team, Scene Queen, and Honey Revenge. Full routing can be found below and tickets purchased here.
