Celebrated Lyricist MC Paul Barman Shares Captivating New Single “Blessings”

Paul taps into a parental, emotional and new found maturity

Blessings” is the new single from distinguished hip-hop lyricist MC Paul Barman. The new track sees Paul tap into a parental, emotional and new found maturity in his approach to music. Creating an optimistic world view in the form of a paternal conversation juxtaposed with a jazzy yet modern syncopation in the backing track.

The song’s structure veers away from traditional rap storytelling, embracing a poetic, almost story-telling, dialogue that feels both intimate and universal. Barman speaks directly to his daughter, offering lessons about life, resilience, and finding joy in the everyday—a rare moment of vulnerability in hip-hop. It showcases a new lane of maturity and growth, not just for him, but for the genre.

For the music, Paul teamed up with Glen Brady, an experienced Producer/Vocalist& DJ. Starting his career between New York and his native Ireland as DJ Wool and currently with his band Def Nettle, he was signed to Stretch Armstrong’s Plant Music as The Glass in the 00’s. He has production, engineering and session musician credits with the likes of R.E.M., has spent years as an engineer with the California State Symphony and has toured in support of The Cranberries as a member of DARK with Andy Rourke (The Smiths). This collaboration sees Brady returning to his roots as a hip-hop DJ & Producer with many beats and collaborations in the works.

Having been produced by the likes of Prince Paul, MF Doom, Questlove, Mark Ronson, Michel Gondry amongst well known collaborators like Kool Keith & Masta Ace, MC Paul Barman’s complex and multilayered approach to songwriting has earned him both acclaim and attention, marking him as a distinct voice within the alternative hip-hop scene.
