Brother Elsey shares their new single “Silver Tongue,” the next offering from the Nashville-based band’s self-titled debut album, due out January 31 via River House Artists. Produced by Drew Long (KALEO, Judah & The Lion), the meditative “Silver Tongue” sees vocalist/guitarist Brady Stablein trading verses with SUSTO frontman Justin Osborne about finding solace in the uncertainty of the future.
“‘Silver Tongue’ is a song that’s a sign of the times,” says Brady Stablein. “We wrote this song with our friend Justin Osborne of SUSTO and we wanted it to be a shortcut to help fight against nihilism. The best way to summarize it might be ‘Nothing matters and that’s ok’. It’s a realistic negativity that keeps you from falling into a deeper, more depressing hole. There are so many people who yell and scream that they have the answers when in reality, nobody really does; and that’s the best part. That’s the bright side of it all. If nothing matters then everything you put meaning to matters the most.”
SUSTO’s Justin Osborne said of the song: “Writing ‘Silver Tongue’ with Brother Elsey was such a fun experience. The first day we started working on the song was the first day I had ever met the Stablein brothers, and we became fast friends. We ended up spending most of our writing session just chatting and getting to know each other, but by the end it felt like I’d known them for years. I’m super proud of how this song turned out, and grateful the guys asked me to feature on the recording as well! Since that first writing session, Brother Elsey has become one of my favorite bands. We’ve shared stages together all across the U.S. now, and I’m glad to call these boys my brothers of the road.”
The band’s upcoming debut album Brother Elsey is an insightful coming-of-age portrait, capturing the mystery, euphoria and struggle of modern young adulthood. The set was recorded at East Nashville’s Ivy Hall – a unique, house studio that allows musicians to record whenever they feel inspired – and the result was a perfect creative storm.
Comprised of siblings Brady Stablein (vocals and guitar), Beau Stablein (bass), and Jack Stablein (lead guitar), plus honorary kin Dalton Thomas (drums), Brother Elsey has forged a deep musical connection, built on sharp songcraft and pure Midwestern grit.
