Attack on Titan’s Finale is Hitting Theaters with One Final Movie

Enhancing the finale's 2-episodes with upgraded visuals

Attack on Titan fans have a major event to look forward to this year, as the series’ epic finale is making its way to the big screen as a complete movie. The official Attack on Titan website recently announced a new compilation film titled Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK, which will bring together the final two parts of the anime’s last season into a single, cohesive cinematic experience. This much-anticipated film is scheduled for release in Japanese theaters on November 8, 2024.

Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK is a 145-minute movie that re-edits the final season’s two one-hour episodes, enhancing them with upgraded visuals and a powerful 5.1-channel surround sound mix. The film’s director, Yuichiro Hayashi, shared his excitement about the movie’s release, expressing that he always envisioned the finale as a unified cinematic experience. “Being given the opportunity to have everyone watch it in the best possible environment—the theater—feels like I’ve achieved a long-cherished dream,” Hayashi commented.

The film will also feature the iconic theme song by Linked Horizon, “Two Thousand Years… Or Perhaps… To You After Twenty Thousand Years…”, which originally played during the second part of Attack on Titan: The Final Season Final Part. This song, deeply tied to the emotional journey of the series, is expected to add another layer of intensity to the theatrical experience.

Studio MAPPA, which took over the animation of Attack on Titan‘s final season, will also be responsible for the production of this movie. Known for their high-quality animation work, MAPPA is expected to deliver a visually stunning and immersive experience that fans have come to expect from the series.

While the film is set to release in Japan, there is currently no confirmed information about an international release or availability on streaming platforms. However, with the massive global fanbase the franchise has garnered, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Attack on Titan‘s final movie came to international theaters.

Would you pull up to the theater for this one?
