Ambient Pop Artist Hollie Kenniff Shares Deeply Emotive New Album ‘For Forever’

Her most gorgeous and emotive work yet

Canadian-American ambient pop artist Hollie Kenniff is excited to share the release of her new album, For Forever.

For Forever is unquestionably Hollie Kenniff’s most gorgeous and emotive work yet. The Canadian-American ambient pop artist’s fourth full-length is streaked with lush, dense thickets of melody—patiently building to a satisfying payoff of a crescendo while always keeping the listener on the edge of their figurative seat. Spanning electronic and acoustic soundwaves, For Forever delivers miles of endless bliss, resulting in Kenniff’s most satisfying statement to date.

Fittingly, For Forever is comprised of material written and recorded over the last several years dating back to 2021 and sounds flesh-and-blood even in its most ethereal moments. Every one of its 11 tracks sounds like a mini-revelation, not unlike Sigur Rós’ instrumental work or the fuzzy dreamscapes of Will Wiesenfeld’s Geotic project.

For Forever is the latest jewel in a career that’s been steadily moving for more than 15 years since her days in the electronic pop outfit Mint Julep with her husband Keith Kenniff, who also records as Helios and Goldmund.

I work on music almost every day, and it’s an extremely important part of my life,” Kenniff explains while discussing the long arc of her career and her impressive creative production ethic. “I’m always focusing on themes of human emotion and the natural world.”

For Forever is a perfect display of Kenniff’s precise touch within the subgenre. A few familiar collaborators throw in; Keith appears via both of his aforementioned monikers—specifically, as Helios on “Amare” and suiting up as Goldmund for the gorgeously languid, Cocteau Twins-esque “Esperance.” Most surprisingly, the contemplative title track features Hollie’s 11-year-old son on piano: “He’s been in weekly lessons for several years, and I had a simple synth drone that I asked him to record something over,” she explains. “It was really fun!”
